Volume 1, Issue 1 POWER PROJECTS: FOOD FROM THE HOOD BUSINESS TIPS Put together a press kit that includes: • A sample of your product. • A press release about your business on company letterhead (ie. What does your business do?, When did it first begin?, Who is your product for? What is it’s purpose? What makes it different/better from other businesses or products?, Who are the spokespeople for your business?, a contact address and phone number, etc.). • Photocopies of any newspaper articles or letters of recommendation that have mentioned your business or pruduct. Don’t be afraid to expand your business or take it in a new direction if you have ideas to improve your product, advertising or production. The sky is the limit. Teamwork is extremely important • Communicate with the other people involved in your business. • Fulfill your responsibilities and then see if there is more work you can help another co-worker complete. • Don’t make fun of a co-workers’ ideas. Focus on your common goals, and forget about your differences of opinion and egos. Organization is key Keep a detailed chart of your income and expenses.
